Narrative:
There are multiple issues surrounding the threshold of runway 19R at las. The threshold of runway 19R is south of taxiway 'F' and 'J'. There are taxiway markings north of the runway 19R threshold; but the taxiway has no name on the chart or the airport signage. Las tower is clearing pilots for intersection departures from runway 19R at taxiway J. They also believe that runway 19R from F is 'full length'. According to the chart and the ground markings runway 19R does not intersect either taxiway since it begins well south of J.we were told to taxi to runway 19R via 'H'. An aircraft in front of us was cleared for takeoff on runway 19R. He was northbound on 'H' and make a right on 'J' then taxied south to the threshold of runway 19R. The tower controller with quite a bit of attitude said 'you were not cleared for an intersection takeoff from J'. The pilot said 'where exactly is the threshold of 19R?' tower did not respond. I guess she wanted him to take H to F then turn right on the taxiway with no name; taxi south of J to the runway threshold. This makes no sense and wastes time and fuel.we would have done the same thing had we not witnessed the above event. I suppose ATC could file a pilot deviation because of this. Every taxi clearance to runway 19R is an illegal clearance since H F and J do not intersect with the runway. Either relocate the threshold of runway 19R (displaced if necessary) to intersect 'J' and inform las controllers that runway 19R full length starts at 'J' or name the taxiway (that already exists on the chart and ground markings) that is north of the 19R threshold.
