Narrative:
During climb, #1 engine developed a very loud vibration which could also be felt throughout airplane. Executed #1 engine precautionary shutdown checklist. Notified ATC and company. Returned to iah and landed. We were not overweight.

Title: ENGINE NOISE AND VIBRATION PROMPT ENGINE SHUTDOWN FOR ACR MLG.
Narrative: DURING CLIMB, #1 ENGINE DEVELOPED A VERY LOUD VIBRATION WHICH COULD ALSO BE FELT THROUGHOUT AIRPLANE. EXECUTED #1 ENGINE PRECAUTIONARY SHUTDOWN CHECKLIST. NOTIFIED ATC AND COMPANY. RETURNED TO IAH AND LANDED. WE WERE NOT OVERWEIGHT.
