Narrative:
Captain's and first officer's flight bags switched at airport curb side. Both bags are identical. Captain proceeded to tsa sign in desk for federal flight deck officers (ffdo); first officer continued to security screening with captain's flight bag which contained ffdo service weapon. Screening agent flagged flight bag. Captain became aware of event after signing in and proceeded to tsa officers to explain mistake. Tsa officers screened first officer's flight bag and found no unauthorized items. Both captain and first officer submitted personal information to tsa officer upon request. Captain notified [operations] immediately of event by voice mail. Continued to gate performing normal duties. Upon returning home; captain filed incident report with [operations].
