Narrative:
On the B777 the limitation for oil quantity is 22 quarts. We were departing and the oil quantity on the right engine was 21 quarts. We called maintenance and they came out and said the oil in the right engine was completely full at 21 quarts and that this is a problem with the some of the -300ERs. We left because we knew the oil quantity was ok even though it did not display the required 22 quarts. I believe the limitation needs to be changed or this issue needs to be addressed by a bulletin to protect crews from ignoring aircraft limitations.
Original NASA ASRS Text
