Narrative:
After making normal landing on 7R at mre, the captain took control to taxi off runway. The aircraft started veering to the right. It continued to turn right as the aircraft slowed. Quick work by the captain stopped the aircraft right on the edge of the runway. The aircraft nose wheel steering failed to work properly, so we had to be towed from the runway to the gate. This temporarily closed 7R at mke. During post-flight by FAA and mechanic a cannon plug on the NWS system was found to be extremely loose and not safety wired, as it should have been. Maintenance had repaired the system 8 days earlier and had failed to properly reconnect all cannon plugs. As first officer, I should have caught such an error during preflight, but being so new to this equipment I am still learning all the little details. During preflight I inspected the nose gear and it looked normal. I'll have to check the security of the plugs by hand from now on. However, it should have been fixed properly by maintenance.
