Narrative:
I was flying on assigned altitude of 6000' MSL on assigned heading of 080 degree when approach called traffic at our 10 O'clock and advised that traffic was level at 5500'. Traffic was a military jet Y, off of bergstrom AFB. When I first saw the traffic, he was coming right at us from our 11 O'clock position and climbing through our altitude to pass over us. As he reached approximately 500' above us, he suddenly pushed his aircraft over steeply diving right in front of our nose. It appears that the military pilot must have busted his assigned altitude, saw us, and dove to recover his altitude. I advised approach control of our near miss, and they replied that they would handle it.

Title: CLOSE ENCOUNTER BETWEEN COMMUTER TURBOPROP AND FIGHTER NEAR AUS.
Narrative: I WAS FLYING ON ASSIGNED ALT OF 6000' MSL ON ASSIGNED HDG OF 080 DEG WHEN APCH CALLED TFC AT OUR 10 O'CLOCK AND ADVISED THAT TFC WAS LEVEL AT 5500'. TFC WAS A MIL JET Y, OFF OF BERGSTROM AFB. WHEN I FIRST SAW THE TFC, HE WAS COMING RIGHT AT US FROM OUR 11 O'CLOCK POS AND CLBING THROUGH OUR ALT TO PASS OVER US. AS HE REACHED APPROX 500' ABOVE US, HE SUDDENLY PUSHED HIS ACFT OVER STEEPLY DIVING RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR NOSE. IT APPEARS THAT THE MIL PLT MUST HAVE BUSTED HIS ASSIGNED ALT, SAW US, AND DOVE TO RECOVER HIS ALT. I ADVISED APCH CTL OF OUR NEAR MISS, AND THEY REPLIED THAT THEY WOULD HANDLE IT.
