Narrative:
I was doing touch and go's in pattern at pkb. On final I noticed I did not have 3 green lights so I executed a go around and left the pattern to the west of the field. I'm not certain if I left the air traffic area, but I probably did. I could not get the 3 greens despite repeated attempts. I circled over pkb, reported my position to tower when I heard my instrument on the radio of another plane Y. I got permission from pkb to use the tower frequency to talk to him about my gear trouble. Meanwhile, I was established on a course back towards the airport. My instrument told me to turn off the panel lights and then turn them back on. Immediately, I got 3 greens. I then called the tower and reported a long left base for runway 28. However, at this time I may have been inside 5 statute mi. I was cleared to land and made an uneventful landing. My uncertainty concerns whether I busted the air traffic area. I intend to clarify with the tower if I needed to report before entering the air traffic area.

Title: SMA EXPERIENCES LNDG GEAR INDICATION PROBLEM.
Narrative: I WAS DOING TOUCH AND GO'S IN PATTERN AT PKB. ON FINAL I NOTICED I DID NOT HAVE 3 GREEN LIGHTS SO I EXECUTED A GO AROUND AND LEFT THE PATTERN TO THE W OF THE FIELD. I'M NOT CERTAIN IF I LEFT THE ATA, BUT I PROBABLY DID. I COULD NOT GET THE 3 GREENS DESPITE REPEATED ATTEMPTS. I CIRCLED OVER PKB, RPTED MY POS TO TWR WHEN I HEARD MY INSTR ON THE RADIO OF ANOTHER PLANE Y. I GOT PERMISSION FROM PKB TO USE THE TWR FREQ TO TALK TO HIM ABOUT MY GEAR TROUBLE. MEANWHILE, I WAS ESTABLISHED ON A COURSE BACK TOWARDS THE ARPT. MY INSTR TOLD ME TO TURN OFF THE PANEL LIGHTS AND THEN TURN THEM BACK ON. IMMEDIATELY, I GOT 3 GREENS. I THEN CALLED THE TWR AND RPTED A LONG LEFT BASE FOR RWY 28. HOWEVER, AT THIS TIME I MAY HAVE BEEN INSIDE 5 STATUTE MI. I WAS CLRED TO LAND AND MADE AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG. MY UNCERTAINTY CONCERNS WHETHER I BUSTED THE ATA. I INTEND TO CLARIFY WITH THE TWR IF I NEEDED TO RPT BEFORE ENTERING THE ATA.
