Narrative:
We had a stabilizer trim total failure on climbout. First officer was flying and noticed stabilizer trim switch was not working. I then tried mine and the autopilot; none worked. Preformed the stabilizer trim failure checklist. Since it was going to lead to a flaps 15 landing and manual trim I would be the pilot landing. We called operations; dispatch; notified flight attendants and passengers. After we amended our release to return to the departure airport we asked for vectors for ILS xxl. We landed overweight flap 15 and taxied to the gate.
