Narrative:
Event happened shortly after dfw approach had issued instruction direct tki from a position of approximately 5 miles northwest of hqz (visual); 20 miles south of tki (GPS). At 3300 MSL; a red/silver drone was spotted just as it passed under right wing. Separation is estimated to have been 100 feet. We spotted it too late to take evasive action. Reported to ATC approximately 30 seconds after event when frequency congestion would allow.
