Advised by FSS no need to notify when flight is 20-30' off ground and on a tether. Called later same day and told if balloon was over 50' tall notice would have to be placed in NOTAMS at least 1 hour before tether.

Title: TETHERING AND ASCENSION OF HOT AIR BALLOON NOT NOTAMED.
Narrative: ADVISED BY FSS NO NEED TO NOTIFY WHEN FLT IS 20-30' OFF GND AND ON A TETHER. CALLED LATER SAME DAY AND TOLD IF BALLOON WAS OVER 50' TALL NOTICE WOULD HAVE TO BE PLACED IN NOTAMS AT LEAST 1 HR BEFORE TETHER.
