Narrative:
When doing a club check-ride and biannual flight review; I lost control of the C177 at the start of the runway. It went off the runway 10 or so yards up and into the grass; clipping off one of the side marker lights. Some damage was done to the aircraft.

Title: C177 pilot reported a loss of directional control early in the takeoff roll that resulted in a runway excursion.
Narrative: When doing a club check-ride and biannual flight review; I lost control of the C177 at the start of the runway. It went off the runway 10 or so yards up and into the grass; clipping off one of the side marker lights. Some damage was done to the aircraft.
