Narrative:
Operating flight from pit to orh. Due to WX in orh we diverted to bwi. During climb to 10000' aircraft continued to 10750'. I noted discrepancy and returned to assigned altitude. No comment from ATC. Factors contributing to occurrence: 1) I was involved in an altercation with a deadheading crew in pit. Deadheading crew was removed from aircraft. 2) flying in continuous light and moderate turbulence. 3) first officer wa having problem with his headset. I was not confident of what he was hearing. 4) we received a change in squawk code just prior to occurrence contributing to my distraction. There is no doubt in my mind that I was just plain distracted. Although in a somewhat high workload situation, I would not normally have a problem as described. I was very concerned with the situation left behind in pit. I allowed it to have an effect on my ability to stay focused on flying aircraft.

Narrative: OPERATING FLT FROM PIT TO ORH. DUE TO WX IN ORH WE DIVERTED TO BWI. DURING CLB TO 10000' ACFT CONTINUED TO 10750'. I NOTED DISCREPANCY AND RETURNED TO ASSIGNED ALT. NO COMMENT FROM ATC. FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO OCCURRENCE: 1) I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ALTERCATION WITH A DEADHEADING CREW IN PIT. DEADHEADING CREW WAS REMOVED FROM ACFT. 2) FLYING IN CONTINUOUS LIGHT AND MODERATE TURB. 3) F/O WA HAVING PROB WITH HIS HEADSET. I WAS NOT CONFIDENT OF WHAT HE WAS HEARING. 4) WE RECEIVED A CHANGE IN SQUAWK CODE JUST PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE CONTRIBUTING TO MY DISTR. THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT I WAS JUST PLAIN DISTRACTED. ALTHOUGH IN A SOMEWHAT HIGH WORKLOAD SITUATION, I WOULD NOT NORMALLY HAVE A PROB AS DESCRIBED. I WAS VERY CONCERNED WITH THE SITUATION LEFT BEHIND IN PIT. I ALLOWED IT TO HAVE AN EFFECT ON MY ABILITY TO STAY FOCUSED ON FLYING ACFT.
