Narrative:
Proceeded under ramp personnel direction straight toward gate. Captain was taxiing aircraft slowly as we approached gate. Aircraft parker signaled left turn; another ramp person on a tug located under right wing tip signaled ok with thumbs up signal. I was alternately looking at the ramp person on the tug, the right wing tip and the aircraft parker in front of the aircraft. Immediately prior to impact the ramp person on the tug looked at the aircraft parker and pointed to the left indicating that we should continue our left turn away from the gate area. The ramp person in front of the aircraft continued to signal left turn; the right wing tip struck a guard RAIL on the jetway. We stopped, shut down the aircraft and deplaned the passenger.
