Narrative:
After number 2 engine start; crew noticed number 2 dc generator failed to come online; seconds later number 2 dc generator hot caution illuminated. We then were notified by ground personnel that smoke was coming from the number 2 nacelle. We immediately shut down the number 2 engine and first officer then proceed to verified smoke was still coming out of the number 2 engine nacelle; we then immediately evacuated the passenger and fired both fire bottles and called fire and rescue services.

Title: De Havilland DHC-8 First Officer reported that a DC generator failed after engine start causing smoke to come out of the nacelle.
Narrative: After number 2 engine start; crew noticed number 2 DC generator failed to come online; seconds later number 2 DC generator hot caution illuminated. We then were notified by ground personnel that smoke was coming from the number 2 nacelle.
