Narrative:
While on ILS final to runway 26L at ontario, ca, and flying into a low sun angle with haze and smoke, ontario tower had called out an small transport, light transport, medium large transport, and then an small aircraft commuter turbo propeller which was turning a right base for the parallel runway 26R. I was the PF. When I finally saw the commuter, he was about our 3-4 O'clock position, 100' horizontal and 150' vertical. I continued the descent and told the tower to tell commuter to go-around. Commuter acknowledged and the tower told him to go-around. After landing we told ontario ground control that we would be filing a near miss report. This could have been prevented by the tower calling commuter flight's turn to base to provide spacing or not allowing commuter flight to turn base until he reported 'traffic in sight', the commuter pilot could have prevented the near miss by not turning final until he had his traffic (us) in sight or requesting tower to call his base because traffic was not in sight.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR ON FINAL HAS NMAC WITH COMMUTER TRAFFIC CALLED BUT NOT SIGHTED. COMMUTER ASSIGNED PARALLEL RWY.
Narrative: WHILE ON ILS FINAL TO RWY 26L AT ONTARIO, CA, AND FLYING INTO A LOW SUN ANGLE WITH HAZE AND SMOKE, ONTARIO TWR HAD CALLED OUT AN SMT, LTT, MLG, AND THEN AN SMA COMMUTER TURBO PROP WHICH WAS TURNING A R BASE FOR THE PARALLEL RWY 26R. I WAS THE PF. WHEN I FINALLY SAW THE COMMUTER, HE WAS ABOUT OUR 3-4 O'CLOCK POS, 100' HORIZ AND 150' VERT. I CONTINUED THE DSNT AND TOLD THE TWR TO TELL COMMUTER TO GO-AROUND. COMMUTER ACKNOWLEDGED AND THE TWR TOLD HIM TO GO-AROUND. AFTER LNDG WE TOLD ONTARIO GND CTL THAT WE WOULD BE FILING A NEAR MISS RPT. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED BY THE TWR CALLING COMMUTER FLT'S TURN TO BASE TO PROVIDE SPACING OR NOT ALLOWING COMMUTER FLT TO TURN BASE UNTIL HE RPTED 'TFC IN SIGHT', THE COMMUTER PLT COULD HAVE PREVENTED THE NEAR MISS BY NOT TURNING FINAL UNTIL HE HAD HIS TFC (US) IN SIGHT OR REQUESTING TWR TO CALL HIS BASE BECAUSE TFC WAS NOT IN SIGHT.
