Narrative:
On takeoff crew experienced smoke/fumes in the cockpit. The smoke was coming from the first officer's glare shield vent. The first officer was performing the takeoff and the captain took the aircraft and performed the reject. The airspeed was below 80 knots when the reject was initiated. As soon as the throttles were positioned to idle during the reject the smoke and fumes dissipated. Crew cleared the runway and ran the smoke; fire or fumes checklist. After exiting the runway and bringing the aircraft to a stop the captain contacted the flight attendants and they reported no smoke or fumes in the cabin area. After the checklists were complete and there was no further indication of smoke or fumes; we coordinated with operations to return to the gate.
