Narrative:

I was providing training at a radar position. Air carrier Y checked on frequency leveling at FL240 westbound. We had a pointout on mlt X at FL230 eastbound (jot direct fwa). I was in the process of getting 7 mi in trail for aircraft landing at ord. After requesting 7 mi in trail I questioned the coordination on another overflt in our sector, with the middle position coordinator. During this time the trnee issued air carrier Y a clearance to 16000'. Since I was busy with the coordination I missed air carrier Y clearance to 16000' and air carrier Y readback. The ca started to flash as air carrier Y was going through FL235. Putting air carrier Y in conflict with mlt X. The trnee issued air carrier Y a 360 degree heading and asked him to expedite the turn. Air carrier Y didn't acknowledge the clearance. The trnee then reissued an immediate turn to a 360 degree heading. This was too late to provide sep between mlt X and air carrier Y.

Narrative: I WAS PROVIDING TRNING AT A RADAR POS. ACR Y CHKED ON FREQ LEVELING AT FL240 WBND. WE HAD A POINTOUT ON MLT X AT FL230 EBND (JOT DIRECT FWA). DURING THIS TIME THE TRNEE ISSUED ACR Y A CLRNC TO 16000'. SINCE I WAS BUSY WITH THE COORD I MISSED ACR Y CLRNC TO 16000' AND ACR Y READBACK. THE CA STARTED TO FLASH AS ACR Y WAS GOING THROUGH FL235. PUTTING ACR Y IN CONFLICT WITH MLT X. THE TRNEE ISSUED ACR Y A 360 DEG HDG AND ASKED HIM TO EXPEDITE THE TURN. ACR Y DIDN'T ACKNOWLEDGE THE CLRNC. THE TRNEE THEN REISSUED AN IMMEDIATE TURN TO A 360 DEG HDG. THIS WAS TOO LATE TO PROVIDE SEP BTWN MLT X AND ACR Y.
