Narrative:
I was on a short 14 KM VFR flight from 1g3 to cak. I was cleared to land by the tower on runway 23 when I was approximately 5 mi out. Upon being cleared to land, I completed prelndg checks, deployed landing gear and appropriate flaps and set up an approach speed of 70 KTS INS. Approximately 15-16' of manifold pressure was carded to just short of T/D. T/D was very light with remaining power being retarded immediately after T/D. Once rollout was commenced I retracted the flaps and applied very light braking. I was instructed by the tower to turn left onto runway 19 and take the next taxiway to the left. I had just turned onto runway 19 when there was a loud explosion from the left main wheel area. The aircraft tipped to the left and came to a stop within 10' of travel. The tire and 1/2 of the wheel departed from the aircraft and continued out ahead of the aircraft approximately 65'. As the aircraft tipped I pulled the mixture and switched the mags off. I then informed the tower that I was disabled and would need a skid, an aft jack and a tow veh. Approximately 2' of aircraft tail extended onto runway 23 which required the closure of both runway 19 and 23. Investigation indicated that the outside flange of left wheel separated from the assembly.

Title: WHEEL FAILURE FOR LIGHT SINGLE AFTER LNDG AT CAK.
Narrative: I WAS ON A SHORT 14 KM VFR FLT FROM 1G3 TO CAK. I WAS CLRED TO LAND BY THE TWR ON RWY 23 WHEN I WAS APPROX 5 MI OUT. UPON BEING CLRED TO LAND, I COMPLETED PRELNDG CHKS, DEPLOYED LNDG GEAR AND APPROPRIATE FLAPS AND SET UP AN APCH SPD OF 70 KTS INS. APPROX 15-16' OF MANIFOLD PRESSURE WAS CARDED TO JUST SHORT OF T/D. T/D WAS VERY LIGHT WITH REMAINING PWR BEING RETARDED IMMEDIATELY AFTER T/D. ONCE ROLLOUT WAS COMMENCED I RETRACTED THE FLAPS AND APPLIED VERY LIGHT BRAKING. I WAS INSTRUCTED BY THE TWR TO TURN LEFT ONTO RWY 19 AND TAKE THE NEXT TXWY TO THE LEFT. I HAD JUST TURNED ONTO RWY 19 WHEN THERE WAS A LOUD EXPLOSION FROM THE LEFT MAIN WHEEL AREA. THE ACFT TIPPED TO THE LEFT AND CAME TO A STOP WITHIN 10' OF TRAVEL. THE TIRE AND 1/2 OF THE WHEEL DEPARTED FROM THE ACFT AND CONTINUED OUT AHEAD OF THE ACFT APPROX 65'. AS THE ACFT TIPPED I PULLED THE MIXTURE AND SWITCHED THE MAGS OFF. I THEN INFORMED THE TWR THAT I WAS DISABLED AND WOULD NEED A SKID, AN AFT JACK AND A TOW VEH. APPROX 2' OF ACFT TAIL EXTENDED ONTO RWY 23 WHICH REQUIRED THE CLOSURE OF BOTH RWY 19 AND 23. INVESTIGATION INDICATED THAT THE OUTSIDE FLANGE OF LEFT WHEEL SEPARATED FROM THE ASSEMBLY.
