Narrative:
Called tower when 8 mi south for landing instructions expecting a left base to runway 1 or left downwind to runway 32. Tower, instead, gave me straight in runway 1 from 5 mi out, #2 following a slow training aircraft on left base to runway 1. Tower became concerned about spacing between the 2 aircraft, and so did I. My over-attention to spacing contributed to my failure to make my usual landing checklist. (I usually do this just inside from approach fix on IFR landing or base leg in usual VFR pattern approach to landing.) tower controller missed his change to warn me that gear was still up.

Title: GEAR UP LNDG FOR SMA AT ILG.
Narrative: CALLED TWR WHEN 8 MI S FOR LNDG INSTRUCTIONS EXPECTING A LEFT BASE TO RWY 1 OR LEFT DOWNWIND TO RWY 32. TWR, INSTEAD, GAVE ME STRAIGHT IN RWY 1 FROM 5 MI OUT, #2 FOLLOWING A SLOW TRNING ACFT ON LEFT BASE TO RWY 1. TWR BECAME CONCERNED ABOUT SPACING BTWN THE 2 ACFT, AND SO DID I. MY OVER-ATTN TO SPACING CONTRIBUTED TO MY FAILURE TO MAKE MY USUAL LNDG CHKLIST. (I USUALLY DO THIS JUST INSIDE FROM APCH FIX ON IFR LNDG OR BASE LEG IN USUAL VFR PATTERN APCH TO LNDG.) TWR CTLR MISSED HIS CHANGE TO WARN ME THAT GEAR WAS STILL UP.
