Narrative:
While awaiting departure at dfw, we were the first of 3 aircraft holding short of runway 17R. Several large turbojets were also departing. The tower cleared all 3 of our company aircraft to 'cross 17R and hold short of runway 17L for departure; caution, wake turbulence on the departing widebody transport.' I started to taxi across the runway. There was not any aircraft on the runway. I assumed this was an error on the controller's part. The clearance was read back to cross the runway. I looked left toward the departure end. As I looked to the right I saw a widebody transport slightly behind us. He already had a takeoff clearance! He began his roll and caused quite a bit of turbulence, to the point that I was somewhat worried for my life. This widebody transport must have received his takeoff clearance well before the controller told us to cross. An aircraft took off before we crossed; that was the aircraft I assumed he was talking about. After crossing, mass confusion erupted. The controller was inexperienced and making several mistakes. I learned a good lesson: don't depend on anyone but yourself!

Title: TAXIING ACFT EXPERIENCED EXTREME JET BLASE ENCOUNTER FROM A DEPARTING WDB.
Narrative: WHILE AWAITING DEP AT DFW, WE WERE THE FIRST OF 3 ACFT HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 17R. SEVERAL LARGE TURBOJETS WERE ALSO DEPARTING. THE TWR CLRED ALL 3 OF OUR COMPANY ACFT TO 'CROSS 17R AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 17L FOR DEP; CAUTION, WAKE TURB ON THE DEPARTING WDB.' I STARTED TO TAXI ACROSS THE RWY. THERE WAS NOT ANY ACFT ON THE RWY. I ASSUMED THIS WAS AN ERROR ON THE CTLR'S PART. THE CLRNC WAS READ BACK TO CROSS THE RWY. I LOOKED LEFT TOWARD THE DEP END. AS I LOOKED TO THE RIGHT I SAW A WDB SLIGHTLY BEHIND US. HE ALREADY HAD A TKOF CLRNC! HE BEGAN HIS ROLL AND CAUSED QUITE A BIT OF TURB, TO THE POINT THAT I WAS SOMEWHAT WORRIED FOR MY LIFE. THIS WDB MUST HAVE RECEIVED HIS TKOF CLRNC WELL BEFORE THE CTLR TOLD US TO CROSS. AN ACFT TOOK OFF BEFORE WE CROSSED; THAT WAS THE ACFT I ASSUMED HE WAS TALKING ABOUT. AFTER XING, MASS CONFUSION ERUPTED. THE CTLR WAS INEXPERIENCED AND MAKING SEVERAL MISTAKES. I LEARNED A GOOD LESSON: DON'T DEPEND ON ANYONE BUT YOURSELF!
