Narrative:
Flight mke to ord. Radar vectors for ILS runway 14R at approximately 8 mi northeast of localizer for runway 14R and 28 mi from ord VOR. Cleared from 7000' to 5000' and vector heading of 190 degree (set up to intercept localizer at 5000' just outside sexxy, which is 15.3 localizer DME). Caution wake turbulence was given and we could see a widebody transport higher at our 12 O'clock that we were going to follow. It was obvious that the widebody transport was following the localizer and G/south from 70000' bifle which is 21.1 localizer DME. Next instructions were turn left 160 degree and intercept 14R localizer. This clearance was refused. We would have been forced to fly into the widebody transport's descending wake as he had followed the G/south from above us. Note! Ord ATC is vectoring regional aircraft directly below heavy/large aircraft during arrival to the same runway. As a result, the aircraft at the lower altitude fly's into a descending vortex from the higher aircraft, which is descending on the glide path. Two incidents involving a light transport and an small transport have been reported and NASA reports filed on both.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLC OF MDT COMMUTER ADVISED OF WAKE TURBULENCE, REFUSED VECTOR TO FOLLOW WDB TYPE ACFT DESCENDING THROUGH POINT OF INTERCEPT FOR THE MDT.
Narrative: FLT MKE TO ORD. RADAR VECTORS FOR ILS RWY 14R AT APPROX 8 MI NE OF LOC FOR RWY 14R AND 28 MI FROM ORD VOR. CLRED FROM 7000' TO 5000' AND VECTOR HDG OF 190 DEG (SET UP TO INTERCEPT LOC AT 5000' JUST OUTSIDE SEXXY, WHICH IS 15.3 LOC DME). CAUTION WAKE TURB WAS GIVEN AND WE COULD SEE A WDB HIGHER AT OUR 12 O'CLOCK THAT WE WERE GOING TO FOLLOW. IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE WDB WAS FOLLOWING THE LOC AND G/S FROM 70000' BIFLE WHICH IS 21.1 LOC DME. NEXT INSTRUCTIONS WERE TURN L 160 DEG AND INTERCEPT 14R LOC. THIS CLRNC WAS REFUSED. WE WOULD HAVE BEEN FORCED TO FLY INTO THE WDB'S DSNDING WAKE AS HE HAD FOLLOWED THE G/S FROM ABOVE US. NOTE! ORD ATC IS VECTORING REGIONAL ACFT DIRECTLY BELOW HEAVY/LARGE ACFT DURING ARR TO THE SAME RWY. AS A RESULT, THE ACFT AT THE LOWER ALT FLY'S INTO A DSNDING VORTEX FROM THE HIGHER ACFT, WHICH IS DSNDING ON THE GLIDE PATH. TWO INCIDENTS INVOLVING A LTT AND AN SMT HAVE BEEN RPTED AND NASA RPTS FILED ON BOTH.
