Narrative:
After dropping passenger off at terminal I self-announced on CTAF, multicom, 122.9 my intention to taxi on 14 (32) for takeoff on 27. Wind was calm to 5 KTS out of wnw. Nearby airport with ATIS was using 28. Also 27 is longest runway at 0c0. About a 1/4 down the runway I saw another aircraft, small aircraft Y, in pattern. Seemed like downwind for 27 till it turned final for 32. I called to traffic, no reply, twice. About 1/2 way down now I went left into a corn field next to runway. Wheel fell into a plow track and stuck. I still had about 20' of wing sticking out over an 80' wide runway. The other aircraft landed. Missing wing tips by about 6', he wizzed by west/O ever seeing me! I saw eyeball to eyeball with his passenger. I got unstuck and announced for takeoff, which I did, on 27. Recommendations: 1) put all ctafs on charts, not just unicom. 2) recommend flashing landing lights during runway conflicts (I didn't do this--I will next time).
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: SMA AT NON TWR ARPT CTAF RUNS OFF SOD RWY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO COMMUNICATE WITH SMA ON APCH TO HIS TAXI RWY. SMA Y LANDS AND PASSES WITHIN 6' OF HIS WINGTIP. NOT ABLE TO COMMUNICATE ON CTAF WITH ACFT Y.
Narrative: AFTER DROPPING PAX OFF AT TERMINAL I SELF-ANNOUNCED ON CTAF, MULTICOM, 122.9 MY INTENTION TO TAXI ON 14 (32) FOR TKOF ON 27. WIND WAS CALM TO 5 KTS OUT OF WNW. NEARBY ARPT WITH ATIS WAS USING 28. ALSO 27 IS LONGEST RWY AT 0C0. ABOUT A 1/4 DOWN THE RWY I SAW ANOTHER ACFT, SMA Y, IN PATTERN. SEEMED LIKE DOWNWIND FOR 27 TILL IT TURNED FINAL FOR 32. I CALLED TO TFC, NO REPLY, TWICE. ABOUT 1/2 WAY DOWN NOW I WENT LEFT INTO A CORN FIELD NEXT TO RWY. WHEEL FELL INTO A PLOW TRACK AND STUCK. I STILL HAD ABOUT 20' OF WING STICKING OUT OVER AN 80' WIDE RWY. THE OTHER ACFT LANDED. MISSING WING TIPS BY ABOUT 6', HE WIZZED BY W/O EVER SEEING ME! I SAW EYEBALL TO EYEBALL WITH HIS PAX. I GOT UNSTUCK AND ANNOUNCED FOR TKOF, WHICH I DID, ON 27. RECOMMENDATIONS: 1) PUT ALL CTAFS ON CHARTS, NOT JUST UNICOM. 2) RECOMMEND FLASHING LNDG LIGHTS DURING RWY CONFLICTS (I DIDN'T DO THIS--I WILL NEXT TIME).
