Narrative:

On final approach to landing, runway 5, kahului an unsafe gear indication was noted and only nose and left main down and locked. A go around was initiated and gear cycled 3 or 4 times with same indications. A fly by the tower was requested, and the tower confirmed an unlocked right main gear. We proceeded to northeast of airport at 1500' and performed emergency gear extension procedures. Same light indication appeared. We recycled and again extended gear manually. Same lights, once again. I elected to notify tower and requested emergency equipment to stand by. Runway 5 was chosen. Wind 05/23. Upon reviewing emergency procedures, checklists etc, a landing was executed. Upon T/D, unsafe gear light went out and right main gear light illuminated. I proceeded to operations hangar, where aircraft was immediately put on jacks and gear cycled. It was found the gear (right main) return spring was stretched and had lost tension to hold gear over center (for micro switch) engagement. All springs were replaced on main gears. I notified tower, and wrote a summary letter of the above events to FAA regional GADO office informing them of the above.
