Narrative:
After landing on runway 27R, we exited at high speed 'X-ray' and held short of sierra on taxiway tango. I called ground control on 121.9 for taxi clearance. Ground control initially did not respond, so I queried him again. He replied 'taxi to the ramps', so we did. Upon arrival at gate, the agent asked the captain to call tower as they did not think they gave us taxi clearance. Situation may have been avoided if ground control would have responded to our call immediately after clearing the runway. No actions or evasive action was required.
