Narrative:
Just prior to engine start, captain 'a', a union representative for a pilots union, entered the cockpit and introduced himself to the first and second officers. He stated something to the fact he would ride in the cockpit going to ord. After recognizing me as the captain he made some rude remark and exited the cockpit. I had flown one leg, ord-ewr, with my crew prior to this incident. This is being brought to your attention because the comments made were disruptive and affected the concentration of my crew for the next 20-30 mins. Captain 'a' has done this same routine on other company flts, and I feel this type of behavior should be strongly discouraged. Any disruption of a flight crew concerning emotional issues does affect the concentration of an individual for a short period of time. This may affect the safety of the operation. The cockpit is not the place for political discord.
