Narrative:
Flying into dfw, final approach controller did not hand me off to tower. Approach controller was real busy and so were we. We kept our speed 180 KTS to the OM and were doing about 130 KTS on short final to runway 17. We landed and turned off on the first high speed. As soon as we rolled out on the high speed, another air carrier widebody transport rolled down beside us on the runway. We were cleared for the visibility to follow an large transport which we did but he, the controller, never handed us to tower and we never caught it.
