Narrative:
Air carrier medium large transport a had been cleared taxi runway 36, hold short of runway 3 on taxiway charlie. We stopped just short of charlie with an air carrier large transport B on charlie. An air carrier large transport C was pushed off the south finger. The tower cleared the air carrier large transport B air carrier to cross runway 3. As the brakes were released the first officer looked to the right for clearance and observed a twin turbo propeller cpr light transport D 'south' turning between our aircraft and air carrier large transport C. Brakes were reapplied to prevent a collision. Ground control wanted us to close up the interval with air carrier large transport B and we responded that we stopped to avoid a conflict with the twin cpr light transport D. Suspect that aircraft was on different frequency. Twin proceeded to corporate ramp. No response was heard on G frequency. Very dangerous situation.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CLOSE CALL ON TAXI BETWEEN ACR MLG (A) AND CPR LTT (D) AT DCA.
Narrative: ACR MLG A HAD BEEN CLRED TAXI RWY 36, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 3 ON TXWY CHARLIE. WE STOPPED JUST SHORT OF CHARLIE WITH AN ACR LGT B ON CHARLIE. AN ACR LGT C WAS PUSHED OFF THE S FINGER. THE TWR CLRED THE ACR LGT B ACR TO CROSS RWY 3. AS THE BRAKES WERE RELEASED THE F/O LOOKED TO THE R FOR CLRNC AND OBSERVED A TWIN TURBO PROP CPR LTT D 'S' TURNING BTWN OUR ACFT AND ACR LGT C. BRAKES WERE REAPPLIED TO PREVENT A COLLISION. GND CTL WANTED US TO CLOSE UP THE INTERVAL WITH ACR LGT B AND WE RESPONDED THAT WE STOPPED TO AVOID A CONFLICT WITH THE TWIN CPR LTT D. SUSPECT THAT ACFT WAS ON DIFFERENT FREQ. TWIN PROCEEDED TO CORPORATE RAMP. NO RESPONSE WAS HEARD ON G FREQ. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
