Narrative:
Upon arrival at tlh and during taxi-in, we started the APU. All APU start indications were normal. We arrived at the gate and shut down the engines and completed appropriate checklists. Upon exiting the aircraft, smoke was visible. At that time, an agent advised smoke and flames were coming from the rear of the aircraft near the APU area. We immediately accomplished appropriate procedures. We accomplished the appropriate checklist, shutting down the APU, firing the extinguisher bottle, evacuating the aircraft, and advising the fire department. The APU fire warning never illuminated nor did the bell operate. All procedures were accomplished and the remaining passengers were evacuated off the jetway. No further incident.
