Narrative:
While on ILS approach to runway 16L at sea and approaching the final approach fix at approximately 2;000 feet; on glide path; with gear down and flaps 20; we received an aural 'traffic' announcement from TCAS; followed by 'descend descend'. We did not observe any red or yellow traffic on the TCAS; however; we complied with the RA. I clicked off the autopilot and descended below the glide path but still within the scale (no full-scale deflection). The RA concluded; however; there was no 'clear of conflict' aural message. I returned to the glide path and continued for a normal landing. The pilot monitoring inquired with the tower as to any other traffic in the area; and explained that we reacted to an RA; however the tower said there was no other traffic. The weather was VFR and descent did not cause any safety concerns. We believe the TCAS simply put out a false warning.
