Narrative:
On the last leg of the day we were instructed by maintenance control to switch aircraft. Upon accepting the new aircraft, the previous captain indicated the vacuum-pwred standby attitude indicator might be inoperative. I asked him if he had written it up in the maintenance log. He said no (or least I thought so). The standby attitude indicator can be deferred by maintenance control with no operational, maintenance procedures or restrictions. I elected to take the aircraft as is and write up the discrepancy in boise, our destination. Due to being behind schedule, approaching severe thunderstorms and flight planning, I overlooked reviewing the maintenance log. Upon arrival in boise I discovered the discrepancy had to be written up. As you can imagine this is a serious infraction. I guess the lesson to be learned is not to let personnel (station, refueling) or other situations rush and distract you in your normal duties. Like the saying goes, if the paperwork does not equal the gross weight of the aircraft it won't fly. In all seriousness though, sometimes inattn to the small details will cause as many problems as the large ones.

Title: PIC ELECTS TO WAIT UNTIL ARRIVING AT DESTINATION BEFORE ENTERING A MINIMUM EQUIPMENT LIST DEFERRED ITEM IN THE LOG BOOK.
Narrative: ON THE LAST LEG OF THE DAY WE WERE INSTRUCTED BY MAINT CTL TO SWITCH ACFT. I ELECTED TO TAKE THE ACFT AS IS AND WRITE UP THE DISCREPANCY IN BOISE, OUR DEST. DUE TO BEING BEHIND SCHEDULE, APCHING SEVERE TSTMS AND FLT PLANNING, I OVERLOOKED REVIEWING THE MAINT LOG. UPON ARR IN BOISE I DISCOVERED THE DISCREPANCY HAD TO BE WRITTEN UP. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE THIS IS A SERIOUS INFRACTION. I GUESS THE LESSON TO BE LEARNED IS NOT TO LET PERSONNEL (STATION, REFUELING) OR OTHER SITUATIONS RUSH AND DISTRACT YOU IN YOUR NORMAL DUTIES.
