Narrative:
Took off on the RNAV departure. Autopilot was armed and in LNAV. Captain and I noticed the autopilot wasn't following the flight director correctly and we had started to deviate right of course. He disengaged the autopilot and corrected course to the left.ATC asked to verify we were headed to [a fix] on the departure. I confirmed and told him it seems the autopilot did not guide us there correctly and we had turned left back to the correct course. ATC gave us a heading back to the right heading of 300 degrees and we complied. I asked ATC if he would like us direct zzzzz intersection and he cleared us direct [to the intersection]. I redirected the FMS to [the intersection] and armed ap and LNAV with no other issues.automation is a great tool but sometimes they have glitches just like any other computer. It is important to remain diligent especially in critical phases of flight.
