Narrative:
Our radar at the facility went completely out of service. We had high winds and blowing dust but this type of weather is not abnormal here. For whatever reason; maybe weather; the commercial power went out and the generator came online. After the generator came online the radar processors tried to re-boot but failed and we were looking at blank scopes throughout the facility. This is supposed to be an upgraded piece of equipment; installed [recently]; yet has failed completely twice in [a short time]. It is fortunate that there were no aircraft in approximately when this event happened. It's unbelievable that this is a redundant system with no apparent redundancy. We had to wait for a tech ops specialist to show up and the whole event lasted close to 90 minutes.please fix the uninterrupted power supply and maybe do a look-back on how this was ever allowed to occur. Wasn't the reliability of this equipment test upon initial installation of the system?
