Narrative:
I was flight instructor for a primary student in a cessna 172S G1000. On returning to [the] airport we were given the clearance to land with a challenger jet behind us inbound at about 100 kts faster speed than we were. I offered to increase speed to the numbers to aid with spacing and took over controls from the student to expedite our landing. On landing; we exited off the runway onto [a] taxiway where tower gave the instruction to contact ground. I observed a beechjet taxiing southbound and replied that I would hold for the beechjet to pass before taxiing clear of the runway onto [the] taxiway. Tower responded that I needed to clear [the] taxiway immediately as the challenger was on short final; and that the beechjet had been given taxi instructions to hold short for our exit. I responded 'wilco' and then decided to hold as the jet showed no signs of slowing down to hold. The beechjet did in fact taxi right past us without slowing down or holding. I then resumed our taxi instructions and contacted ground; doing so prior to the challenger touchdown. If I had indeed taxied [onto the taxiway] as instructed by tower; I believe that we would have impacted with the beechjet. I am not sure whether tower or ground control was at fault with the issuance of their instructions; but this was definitely a safety issue.
