Narrative:
During departure; we experienced some wake turbulence at about 600 feet from the preceding aircraft that was turning to the right. We made a shallow turn to the left then back to the right. ATC asked us if we were assigned a different heading and what departure we were assigned. We said the oaks 2 and no other heading was assigned. I explained that we made a turn to the left to move out of the turbulence and had resumed runway heading. We were given several heading changes and altitude changes as we were closing in and out-climbing the traffic ahead of us. My first officer suggested we fill out a report in case there was any confusion. Cause: light winds mostly down runway.
