Narrative:
I was called by ZSE sector 5 that aircraft X had lost an engine and was returning to [the airport]. I got control from ZSE 05 when aircraft X came over I told him about the [alternate] airport which he was over at that time. He said he was having a hard time maintaining altitude so I gave him a block altitude 110b120 which 110 was the mia (minimum IFR altitude) in the area. He then decided to go to [the alternate] so I told him where the airport was because he was past it at this point. As he was trying to get the airport in sight he dropped down to 107 then got the airport in sight. So I cleared him for the visual approach. I had talked to my supervisor and told him what had happened and we didn't think it was an emergency but ZSE 05 thought it was. So I don't know if my supervisor filled out any paperwork. Also I forgot to add aircraft X landed safely at [the alternate] without any incident while landing.
