Narrative:

Made a routine stop at ind. Taxi out to runway 23L for takeoff was normal. I was the first officer and the PF for the next leg. Tower cleared us for takeoff on runway 23L. The captain gave me the aircraft after he lined the aircraft up. When I advanced the throttles for takeoff, we got the takeoff warning horn. The captain took over the aircraft and aborted the takeoff roll which had only just begun. The captain turned off the runway at the first turn-off. We checked everything over. We recycled the trim setting and the flaps. We asked ground control if it was clear behind us on the taxiway to do a runup check. We ran the engines back up and this time, no takeoff warning horn. The captain said he was satisfied and to tell tower we were ready for takeoff. I told the captain, that I agreed with him that it was perfectly safe and logical to takeoff, but that I thought we should go back to the gate and put something in the logbook for the aborted takeoff. The captain said he didn't think that was necessary because we weren't getting the takeoff warning horn after we had recycled the trim and flaps. We took off west/O going back to the gate and the takeoff was normal. I agree with the captain's logic.

Title: ACR FO ADVISES CAPT TO RETURN TO GATE TO MAKE LOGBOOK ENTRY IN THE WAKE OF A TKOF ABORT CAUSED BY A FALSE WARNING HORN.

Narrative: MADE A ROUTINE STOP AT IND. TAXI OUT TO RWY 23L FOR TKOF WAS NORMAL. I WAS THE F/O AND THE PF FOR THE NEXT LEG. TWR CLRED US FOR TKOF ON RWY 23L. THE CAPT GAVE ME THE ACFT AFTER HE LINED THE ACFT UP. WHEN I ADVANCED THE THROTTLES FOR TKOF, WE GOT THE TKOF WARNING HORN. THE CAPT TOOK OVER THE ACFT AND ABORTED THE TKOF ROLL WHICH HAD ONLY JUST BEGUN. THE CAPT TURNED OFF THE RWY AT THE FIRST TURN-OFF. WE CHKED EVERYTHING OVER. WE RECYCLED THE TRIM SETTING AND THE FLAPS. WE ASKED GND CTL IF IT WAS CLR BEHIND US ON THE TXWY TO DO A RUNUP CHK. WE RAN THE ENGS BACK UP AND THIS TIME, NO TKOF WARNING HORN. THE CAPT SAID HE WAS SATISFIED AND TO TELL TWR WE WERE READY FOR TKOF. I TOLD THE CAPT, THAT I AGREED WITH HIM THAT IT WAS PERFECTLY SAFE AND LOGICAL TO TKOF, BUT THAT I THOUGHT WE SHOULD GO BACK TO THE GATE AND PUT SOMETHING IN THE LOGBOOK FOR THE ABORTED TKOF. THE CAPT SAID HE DIDN'T THINK THAT WAS NECESSARY BECAUSE WE WEREN'T GETTING THE TKOF WARNING HORN AFTER WE HAD RECYCLED THE TRIM AND FLAPS. WE TOOK OFF W/O GOING BACK TO THE GATE AND THE TKOF WAS NORMAL. I AGREE WITH THE CAPT'S LOGIC.
