Narrative:
Just prior to my takeoff; an airplane had landed and had blown a tire at the far end of the runway. The runway is 3;700 feet long with overrun areas at each end of 200 feet. The disabled aircraft was approximately 200 feet from the west end; leaving 3;500 feet of unobstructed runway. I decided that this was more than twice the accelerate stop distance for the cessna I was flying.upon taxiing out to the runway and monitoring the CTAF; I noted that no one had said that the runway was closed. The AWOS had made no mention of the airport being closed; and just prior to my takeoff; several aircraft had landed.upon my return to the airport; approximately forty-five minutes later; I was informed that the runway was closed by way of CTAF. Other than the one radio call while approaching the airport; there was no indication of the runway being closed. I diverted to [an] airport about 13nm away to wait out the closure. While enroute; I called approach and they were unaware of the closure and there still was not any mention of the closure on the AWOS.
