Narrative:
After our [flight] from ZZZ to iah; we taxied to [the] gate. All indications from the self-park system were normal and correct. We saw our flight number and the correct aircraft type and the first officer and I even verbalized that the information was correct. The system showed no obstructions and was guiding us in. I proceeded to follow the system guidance and parked the aircraft normally. After the ok message; we noticed that some of the ramp personnel seemed to be looking at the left side of the aircraft. So I opened the window and noticed that the number 1 engine cowling had rubbed against the rubber portion of the front of the jet bridge. We contacted maintenance and made an elb (electronic logbook) entry. The maintenance personnel inspected the aircraft and found only a rubber scuff mark and no other damage to the aircraft. They quickly buffed the rubber mark off the cowl and the aircraft departed on time back to ZZZ. The ground personnel said that the jet bridge had been left out of position after painting was done that night.
