Narrative:
As we approached the gate a bagg smoke message presented on the EICAS as well as illumination of the bagg extinguisher button. Checklist prompted me to depress the bagg extg button. Fire department met us on the ramp and eventually stated that there were no unusual heat signatures from the aircraft. Continued taxi into the gate and deplaned normally. [Cause is] either smoke in the baggage compartment or faulty sensor.
