Narrative:
[In cruise flight] at FL370 we received the following ecams: anti-ice standby pitot heat; auto pilot off; auto thrust off; landing gear shock absorber fault. We worked through the procedures and also discovered a loss of the flight directors as well. We notified ATC; dispatcher and [maintenance] who helped us work through the ECAM follow up. After much discussion and destination weather evaluation (low IFR) we made the decision to return and land at [a suitable alternate]. Flight attendants and passengers were informed. Upon descent through 12;000 feet all abnormalities cleared except a momentary; multiple ECAM during landing gear lowering that cleared before we could identify. An uneventful landing and taxi to the gate followed. After a full review with the maintenance tech; crew; dispatcher and passengers; we re-fueled and re-dispatched to continue the flight. However; after further evaluation; the decision was made to remove the airplane from service and the flight soon canceled.
