Narrative:
[While] enroute I experienced a steady wing overheat annunciator. Immediately performed memory items followed by the emergency QRH checklist. The annunciator did not extinguish after 2 minutes and 30 seconds; as per the QRH I performed a pre-planned engine shutdown. I immediately notified center of the problem; and diverted to [a suitable alternate]; landing with one engine running. No further problems ensued. The plane had previously been encountering a left steady wing overheat annunciator before I left [departure airport]. However after a fix the plane checked out normally.
