Narrative:
Aircraft X requested direct boise leaving 5;600. I cleared aircraft X direct at the time he requested; and he was just leaving 3;500. I was not expecting aircraft X to turn right away as the pilot requested out of 5;600; but I should have clarified that he was cleared direct leaving 5;600. The pilot turned towards boise and was closer than three miles from the 4;553 feet tower mountain obstruction while still below it. Would like to review vectors below the MVA (minimum vectoring altitude).
