Narrative:
I am very concerned about the safety of the company's new checklist policy. The climb check has 3 different segments and is not completed until out of 18000'. The approach check has a descent check that preceeds it. The landing check has 4 segments. The 'landing check' is called after the approach flap setting. The 'landing gear' call stands alone and the final items are completed after the final flaps arc set. The last segment requires both pilots to watch the flaps come down no matter how busy on approach. We have had several major checklist changes over the past 2 yrs. This latest one is the most radical. Having flown with 20-30 first officers using it I find that about 30 to 40 percent of the time we are able to do all the segments of the list, something usually sets left out. Many times its the gear check, since it no longer is 'gear down/landing check', as we've all done since day one in our careers. Also much of the check is done with a flow that does not match the checklist. After time off you have to rememorize the flow since it's so different from the list. I note that when a situation is tight we are all at time reverting back to some of the calls from the previous procedures. Even the new hires who never used another checklist area not able to remember all the stops. The company imposed the procedures west/O input from the line and is not interested in our input. Please help us convince the company that these procedures are not user friendly before someone makes a serious mistake.

I NOTE THAT WHEN A SITUATION IS TIGHT WE ARE ALL AT TIME REVERTING BACK TO SOME OF THE CALLS FROM THE PREVIOUS PROCS. EVEN THE NEW HIRES WHO NEVER USED ANOTHER CHKLIST AREA NOT ABLE TO REMEMBER ALL THE STOPS. THE COMPANY IMPOSED THE PROCS W/O INPUT FROM THE LINE AND IS NOT INTERESTED IN OUR INPUT. PLEASE HELP US CONVINCE THE COMPANY THAT THESE PROCS ARE NOT USER FRIENDLY BEFORE SOMEONE MAKES A SERIOUS MISTAKE.
