Narrative:
While on final approach; we experienced a master warning light and fire bell; and EICAS (engine indicating and crew alerting system) message 'aft cargo fire det.' I canceled the master warning bell and recalled the EICAS and checked the status pages; at this point we experienced the same fire warning and bell a second time; I canceled the warning and notified tower of our situation and requested men and equipment. Once on the ground we exited the runway and coordinated communications with fire and rescue and parked and shutdown the aircraft safely. We then ran the evacuation checklist and exited the jet via the slides.
