Narrative:

After back-taxi on runway 8-26, stopped at intersection for visibility check for aircraft in pattern (no radio on board aircraft). Saw no aircraft in pattern, so turned and back-taxied on runway 3-21 to the north on the left edge of runway. After about 1000' noticed twin engine aircraft on approximately 1 mi final. Pulled own aircraft to left 1/2 off runway and stopped. Twin engine aircraft had made a straight in approach and made a go around about 100' above runway. After passing I continued on to threshold and run-up area and waited for twin engine aircraft to land. I believe the fast straight in approach by twin engine aircraft put him out of visibility range when I turned onto active runway.

Title: SMA PLT ENTERS AN ACTIVE RWY AFTER A LOOK-SEE AND CAUSES AN APCHING TWIN TO GO AROUND.

Narrative: AFTER BACK-TAXI ON RWY 8-26, STOPPED AT INTXN FOR VIS CHK FOR ACFT IN PATTERN (NO RADIO ON BOARD ACFT). SAW NO ACFT IN PATTERN, SO TURNED AND BACK-TAXIED ON RWY 3-21 TO THE N ON THE LEFT EDGE OF RWY. AFTER ABOUT 1000' NOTICED TWIN ENG ACFT ON APPROX 1 MI FINAL. PULLED OWN ACFT TO LEFT 1/2 OFF RWY AND STOPPED. TWIN ENG ACFT HAD MADE A STRAIGHT IN APCH AND MADE A GAR ABOUT 100' ABOVE RWY. AFTER PASSING I CONTINUED ON TO THRESHOLD AND RUN-UP AREA AND WAITED FOR TWIN ENG ACFT TO LAND. I BELIEVE THE FAST STRAIGHT IN APCH BY TWIN ENG ACFT PUT HIM OUT OF VIS RANGE WHEN I TURNED ONTO ACTIVE RWY.
