Narrative:
My complaint is with the new england journal of medicine and doctors of the university of michigan. They state (with all the weight of their degrees and knowledge) that the FAA should restrict pilots to 0.01 percent alcohol instead of the current 0.04 percent. Attached please read 9/90 copy of utv news in regards to (DOT) assumptions and the actual facts as of this date. All the politician and news media have been defaming us long enough! As a whole the aviation and transport industry has very little drug and alcohol problems at least nowhere near that of the professions! I think it is about time they clean their own house and quit usurping our constitutional rights. Let us talk about something that the industry has known for too long a time and has done absolutely nothing! Rest and sleep and hours of service. The FAA recently (1985) allowed aircrews to fly longer before getting the required rest. Hours of service for railroads 12 hours, for truck drivers 10 hours, for pilots 14 plus hours. They work aircrews legally 14 hours per day with 10 hours off after the 2ND day. They are brain tired and slow, both aircrews and controllers. When is the FAA going to quit sleeping with the companies?
