Narrative:
Conducting IOE for copilot upgrade. Copilot flying first landing in aircraft under line conditions. Bos tower cleared us to land runway 15, hold short runway 9. We acknowledged the hold short. Landing slightly long within normal T/D zone. Lighter than normal braking caused us to pass normal exit. As we approached exit prior to runway 9, tower asked if we were going to hold short. Copilot responded affirmative. Then tower gave taxi instructions to cross runway 4R hold short of runway 4L while we were still on runway and trying to turn off. At this point I became confused as to where runway 9 actually was and thought I actually had 2 more exits available. When tower realized we passed the exit prior to runway 9, he cleared us on to runway 9 to taxi back to gate. Phone call was made to tower supervisor to explain. He said no problems. In future, I will tell tower unable to hold short of runway 9 upon landing if there is any doubt. I also felt tower could wait on the taxi instructions until actually clear of runway.

Title: LONG LNDG, UNABLE TO HOLD SHORT OF CROSSING RWY AS CLEARED.
Narrative: CONDUCTING IOE FOR COPLT UPGRADE. COPLT FLYING FIRST LNDG IN ACFT UNDER LINE CONDITIONS. BOS TWR CLRED US TO LAND RWY 15, HOLD SHORT RWY 9. WE ACKNOWLEDGED THE HOLD SHORT. LNDG SLIGHTLY LONG WITHIN NORMAL T/D ZONE. LIGHTER THAN NORMAL BRAKING CAUSED US TO PASS NORMAL EXIT. AS WE APCHED EXIT PRIOR TO RWY 9, TWR ASKED IF WE WERE GOING TO HOLD SHORT. COPLT RESPONDED AFFIRMATIVE. THEN TWR GAVE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS TO CROSS RWY 4R HOLD SHORT OF RWY 4L WHILE WE WERE STILL ON RWY AND TRYING TO TURN OFF. AT THIS POINT I BECAME CONFUSED AS TO WHERE RWY 9 ACTUALLY WAS AND THOUGHT I ACTUALLY HAD 2 MORE EXITS AVAILABLE. WHEN TWR REALIZED WE PASSED THE EXIT PRIOR TO RWY 9, HE CLRED US ON TO RWY 9 TO TAXI BACK TO GATE. PHONE CALL WAS MADE TO TWR SUPVR TO EXPLAIN. HE SAID NO PROBS. IN FUTURE, I WILL TELL TWR UNABLE TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 9 UPON LNDG IF THERE IS ANY DOUBT. I ALSO FELT TWR COULD WAIT ON THE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS UNTIL ACTUALLY CLR OF RWY.
