Narrative:
We picked up an IFR clearance for a part 91 flight from ksjc to ZZZ. We were issued a clearance to ZZZ; the clearance was read back to sjc clearance; 'aircraft X cleared to ZZZ via the LOUPE4 departure except right turn direct bmrng....' we departed runway 30L flew heading 306 to the 1.8 DME fix; as we were in a right turn and climbing to 5000 feet when departure told us to turn right to heading of 120. Departure then queried us about the departure programmed in our FMS. Then they gave us another heading change to 140 and cleared us to 11;000 feet; then we were cleared direct to sjc VOR. The rest of the flight was uneventful. In reviewing the event with the other pilot it appeared to us that this is common occurrence on this SID; and departure would like documentation on this SID procedure either to change it or doing away with this SID.
