Narrative:
Upon landing; aircraft hydroplaned as was evident by the photographs that were taken the following morning. There were rain showers in the area; and the runway appeared wet on landing. The left main and nose landing gear slid off the side of the runway and became stuck in the mud. After touchdown; the aircraft felt like it was on ice; and started drifting left. With the power levers at idle; I applied right rudder to try to realign the aircraft on the centerline of the runway.in conclusion; had the runway been grooved this incident would not have occurred. There was minor damage to the aircraft from hitting a runway edge light.
