Narrative:
Unable to retract nose gear on departure. Returned to dfw and made an uneventful landing, was not overweight. Maintenance found nose gear pin installed. Cause: F/east noticed pin during his walk around, but because of several other mx type problems he failed to inform ground personnel to remove the pin in accordance with company directives. The aircraft was pushed from the gate but ground personnel failed to notice pin with red streamer (dark at time of push back). Corrective action: anytime a pin is found installed in a gear, a write up in the E-6 aircraft logbook that would have to be cleared prior to departure, or a checklist item could be added, however, this is a fairly rare incident. There was no safety factor in this incident since there was no overweight landing or fuel dump. Just 'murphy's law'.

Title: ACR LGT MADE A TKOF WITH THE NOSE GEAR PIN STILL INSTALLED.
Narrative: UNABLE TO RETRACT NOSE GEAR ON DEP. RETURNED TO DFW AND MADE AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG, WAS NOT OVERWEIGHT. MAINT FOUND NOSE GEAR PIN INSTALLED. CAUSE: F/E NOTICED PIN DURING HIS WALK AROUND, BUT BECAUSE OF SEVERAL OTHER MX TYPE PROBS HE FAILED TO INFORM GND PERSONNEL TO REMOVE THE PIN IN ACCORDANCE WITH COMPANY DIRECTIVES. THE ACFT WAS PUSHED FROM THE GATE BUT GND PERSONNEL FAILED TO NOTICE PIN WITH RED STREAMER (DARK AT TIME OF PUSH BACK). CORRECTIVE ACTION: ANYTIME A PIN IS FOUND INSTALLED IN A GEAR, A WRITE UP IN THE E-6 ACFT LOGBOOK THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE CLRED PRIOR TO DEP, OR A CHKLIST ITEM COULD BE ADDED, HOWEVER, THIS IS A FAIRLY RARE INCIDENT.
